Audio Performance

The audio performance tests we done using Audio Rightmark 6.0.5 and a 3.5mm gold plated, oxygen free stereo loop back cable between stereo out and microphone input. Results were taken at the DVD sample rate of 16-bit/48KHz and High Definition 24-bit/96KHz.

The average noise and dynamic range fidelity is over 100dB, with the greatest dip hitting a not hugely bad low eighties. The quality of audio from the Realtek ALC889A is overall more consistent than the ADI SoundMax 1988B, with fewer blips in fidelity as you progress up the frequency range.

The ALC889A doesn't offer any extra Dolby options, but it still supports up to 7.1 surround sound through digital and analogue outputs.
